Getting ready for DREAMERS OFTEN LIE
December 6, 2015 Tags: Dreamers Often Lie, Events, Giveaway, NCTE, YASo much stuff to quickly and excitedly share:
- Last month, I attended the NCTE convention in Minneapolis, where I signed advance copies of DREAMERS OFTEN LIE, had fun at the Penguin/Nerdy Book Club cocktail party, and talked all things YA with teachers, librarians, and my amazing editor (Hi, Jess!). Here I am with the big DREAMERS poster that now lives in my home library and reminds me that this is all actually finally happening.
- My husband/home tech support/web designer/human firewall has been busy designing a page for DREAMERS on my website. It’s got preordering info, Shakespearean links and references (including a list of all the quotes used within the book), a theatrical glossary, and more. And it’s pretty. Go look.
- Jaye Stuart, the protagonist/star (she’d prefer that) of DREAMERS, is starting an Instagram account of her own. You can follow her at bluejaye.dramaqueen.
- I’m holding a Goodreads giveaway of one signed advance reading copy of DREAMERS OFTEN LIE, open to entries from December 8 – 18. (Goodreads users: Writing a review of a book you’ve loved, or even adding a book to your wish list, is one of the nicest gifts you can give an author. And the holidaysΒ are coming up. Just saying.)
- If you are a book blogger/reviewer who would like an advance copy of DREAMERS OFTEN LIE, you’ll find more info and a galley request form at http://penguinteen.tumblr.com/bloggers.
- My spring calendar is quickly filling with more events, including the much loved and recently revived Books & Breakfast (Saturday, February 13th, from 9:00 – 12:00). Visit the site for a complete list of attending authors, registration info, and more.
There. Now off to make a fresh pot of coffee and decorate a Christmas tree.
Such a wonderful smile, I can see why you would hang the poster in your office, it really looks very nice. I’ve got my copy preordered, can’t wait for its release! Congratulations. Hope you have a happy holidays with your family. Off to check out the Dreamer’s website…

Maybe I should have read the dates the giveaway is first. It doesn’t start until tomorrow, which is 4 hours and 15 minutes away. AGHHHHHHHHHHH I ‘M SO STUPID. I’m sorry for assaulting you with my stupidness. And not to sound rude or anything, but I really want to win the giveaway! Because then I could have a copy of DREAMERS OFTEN LIE before my other friends get it. And then, ,when they wanna read it, I’ll say, “Uh, NOPE. I got an advance copy and you didn’t.” Just kidding! I would never be rude to my friends like that! Well, I gotta go! See ya!

Yes, the giveaway is now live! I’m afraid I can’t pull strings (just wouldn’t be fair…) but I’ll be wishing you lots of luck. π
Comment by Jacqueline on December 8, 2015 @ 2:36 pm
And I know you can’t pull strings for me. Eh. Anyway, so how are you? How’s Beren? Ryan? Brom Bones? Oh, and how old is Beren now? Jack is 10 months old. π But seriously, if I got DREAMERS OFTEN LIE for my birthday, that would be AMAZING. It would be the best birthday gift EVER!!! Oh, and what’s your favorite animal/breed of said animal? Don’t ask why I’m asking. It’s for… reasons.
Well, off to Goodreads to enter the giveaway!
And as always, stay awesome!

Hello, Nicole! I’m typing this beside a glowing Christmas tree with a cheerful baby cooing in the background, so things are very good around here. (I’m also working as fast as I can on my next book while struggling to catch up with an over-full email inbox, baking cookies, and taking care of a 9-month-old who refuses to be left alone for a second, which means that I’m always behind at EVERYTHING, but it doesn’t mean that things are any less good.) I hope things are wonderful with you and Jack and your cats too. π
What’s my favorite animal/breed? Tough question. I’m tempted to say dogs of the Brom Bones breed (springer spaniel/border collie/beagle/mystery ingredients) are my favorite, but I love almost all dog varieties. I also love monkeys, sloths, lemurs, manatees, bear cubs, gray parrots, piglets, pygmy goats, turtles… Everything but fish, basically. I am not fond of fish. Except for the very smallest and cutest varieties.

…And I entered the giveaway! Yay!!! Now I gotta go do some mathy stuff and some bandy stuff, then I’m off to draw a picture for one of my favorite teachers. Because reasons. So… yeah! I shall see you later!
And as always, stay awesome!

“I’ve heard it said that people come into our lives
for a reason, bringing something we must learn.
And we are lead to those who help us most to grow if we let them
and we help them in return.
Well I don’t know if I believe that’s true,
but I know I’m who I am today because I knew you…
Like a comet pulled from orbit as it passes a sun,
like a stream that meets a boulder halfway through the wood.
Who can say if I’ve been changed for the better?
Because I knew you, I have been changed for good.”
-For Good, Wicked (the musical)
I find these lyrics so true… And if you haven’t heard For Good, look it up. Seriously. We sang it last year for choir. Anyway, just wanted to say “howdy do” (Disney’s Tinker Bell: Secret of the Wings.) and ask you a question. Do you think we’re friends? Or just acquaintances? I consider you my friend. You are seriously so amazing, Jacqueline. You have a true gift with words. And I find myself looking eagerly for your responses. Because honestly, I LOVE reading your responses. If I have a bad day and you happen to respond, you never fail to make me smile. Thank you, Jacqueline. You’re the best.
And as always, stay awesome!

Hello Jacqui! (Is it okay if I call you that? If it’s not, I’ll stop.) Anyhoo, we get to set up our Christmas tree and decorate it in a little bit! And ooooohhhh, COOKIES. GIMME DA COOKIES. NAOW. Just kidding! But seriously, I would LOVE to try a cookie… Darn it, I want cookies now. Oh, and IT’S MA BURFDAY!!! I’ve been saying it exactly like it’s spelled all day today. I’m 14! I’ve been 14 since 2:43 in the morning. That was probably not fun for my mother… Oh God, I get to look forward to that if I have kids. Ughhhhhhhhh. Oh, and we only have one cat… Bill died last December. And Darma is slowly dying. π
And so you like cats? I thought you were allergic… Okay. My favorite animals/breeds… Shetland Sheepdogs. Any breed of cat, but I especially love calicos and rag doll cats. (Google them. They’re adorable.) Monkeys and lemurs (just like you, haha.) Umm… Bottlenose dolphins, yellow labs, chocolate labs, golden retrievers, collies, beagles, springer spaniels, and goldendoodles. And ANY breed of horse. I especially LOVE Arabians, Marawaris, Clydesdales, Quarter horses, and miniature horses. (I listed those all from memory.) Um, yeah! Those are my favorite animals! Oh, and I love beta fish and goldfish. Both the living thing and the snack that smiles back. GOLDFISH!
Oh, and my favorite sports: FIGURE SKATING. Ballet. Gymnastics. Soccer. Yeah. I was in all those sports at one time. (Obviously not all at the same time!) What are your favorite sports? Favorite color(s)? My favorite colors are: turquoise, lime green, sky blue, hot pink, lilac, navy blue, creamsicle orange, and bright yellow. Well, see ya!
And as always, stay awesome!
